Our Story
The beginning
Paul discovered the art of baking at an early age. Inspired by his Father and generations of family bakers, he developed a deep appreciation for the craft and a natural talent for turning humble ingredients into the perfect loaf.
Paul has been a baker for 31 years this year (2024). He started his career working alongside his Father learning how to produce quality artisan bread.
Baking career
After gaining invaluable lessons and training from his late Father, Paul built himself a career in the baking industry.
Over the next two decades he worked in the FMCG bakery industry in areas such as production, wholesale, managerial, and training roles throughout the UK. He has worked for many of the big wholesale bakeries and supermarkets in the UK.
In 2012, Paul won The Best Baker in the UK in The Master Craft Awards.
The birth of Paul's Bread
During the Covid lockdown in 2020, Paul started making bread in his kitchen for friends and neighbours. Word started getting around about how good the bread was, so Paul started taking orders and delivering it fresh to the doorstep a few days a week.
When restrictions were eased, Paul was offered a stall at the local farmer’s market and local businesses started to hear of his lovely fresh bread. When orders started increasing, Paul needed somewhere bigger to keep up with demand – He was offered a unit near Penzance in December 2020 and he commenced transforming it into his dream bakery – the Paul’s Bread Bakery.
In April 2021 Paul’s Bread was officially established and through hard work and determination has grown from strength to strength.
In the short time of the bakery opening, Paul has achieved a gold in 2022 for his white tin loaf in the Tiptree World Bread Awards. He has also won three gold awards in 2023 for his white tin loaf, malt crunch loaf and tea cakes and two gold awards in 2024 for his white rolls and maltcrunch rolls in The Taste of The West awards.
The future
With many awards now under his belt and surrounded by a fantastic team, Paul is excited about what the future holds for Paul’s Bread.
